SCSC recently provided funding for the following project:
San Diego County Salinity Reduction from New Local Supplies
This project examines the effects of integrating desalinated seawater from the Claude "Bud" Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant (CDP) into the San Diego County water supply. Data from the plant operation will give a robust view of imported water blending options. The project will track salinity reduction from mixing desalinated seawater into the region’s water and will measure the economic benefit of reduced salinity.
The study could highlight the benefits of incorporating desalinated water into water supplies in other parts of the state. The project will also help Water Authority member agencies develop salt and nutrient management plans to comply with the State Water Resources Control Board’s Recycled Water Policy.
